Authenticating eBay Account
The options menu has many options. For starters we’ll focus on the most necessary but highlight all of the features.
- First, you need to authenticate your account with uBuyFirst. This allows uBuyFirst to purchase commit to buy items via the PlaceOffer API for items you wish to purchase. We do not store your eBay credentials at all and the authentication is done by redirecting to your default browser, logging into eBay and authenticating your account through eBay. Again, we will never store or ask for your actual eBay credentials!
Go down to “LIST OF EBAY ACCOUNTS” and click “ADD”
A dialog box will appear with instructions.
Most users use just one eBay account to buy (overall or at a time). Some buy certain items on specific accounts. If that’s the case, you can choose a default browser for REQUIRE IMMEDIATE PAYMENT items to direct to where you would already have your eBay username and password session active and prevent you from having to login and out of accounts since using an entirely different browser allows one windows session to have two eBay sessions active at a time.
Again, by default and for basic setup, it’s best not to worry about this now.
NEXT, click the “AUTHENTICATION” button.
You’ll be redirected to eBay’s website to login. Enter your username and password and click signin.
You’ll then be asked to agree to allow uBuyFirst access to link to your eBay account. Read the information on the page and if you agree, click “I Agree”.
The browser will go to a Thank You page and tell you the Authorization has successfully completed. You can now close the browser window and return back to the uBuyFirst application.
The Authentication window will still be open with the “Confirm” button now allowed to be clicked.
Click “Confirm” and the App will ping eBay to ensure you’ve authorized uBuyFirst access to your eBay account. Once you’ve done so, results of the authentication will show in the bottom with your username and expiration date of the token. (By default, the expiration date is 6 months)
Click save and the dialog box will go away and you’ll see your eBay account name in the settings area.
You remove an account by clicking the REMOVE button and also manually revoking the token from within your eBay login via My eBay > Settings > Account Settings > 3rd Party Authorizations
