Commit to Buy Feature Changes

Important Changes Starting Oct 15th 2024

Starting October 15th, this feature will:

  • Transition from an Enterprise-only feature to a usage-based pricing model.

  • Incur a 0.9% fee on all purchases made directly through the app.

Why the Change?

Our business model relies on both subscription income and small commissions from purchases made through uBuyFirst. Unfortunately, eBay stopped paying affiliates for purchases made through this feature nearly three years ago. They offered an alternative solution, but its development has been repeatedly delayed and now appears indefinitely paused. Without this commission, we’ve had to reevaluate how we can continue to offer this service.

What This Means for You

To continue using the direct purchasing feature, you must opt in by Oct 15th 2024.

Here’s how:

  1. Opt-In Process: Fill out the form on the bottom of this page with your registered license email.

  2. Billing Setup: Once you’ve opted in, we’ll send you a link to set up a recurring billing account through Stripe. This must be completed by August 25th.

  3. Monthly Billing: At the end of each month, we’ll generate a report of your successful purchases and bill the 0.9% fee to your account on the 5th of the following month.

  4. Returns/Refunds: We’ve reduced the fee from 1% to 0.9% to account for returns and refunds. All successful purchases via Direct Buy will be charged. If you encounter an unusual situation, you can submit a request for consideration before the end of the month, and we’ll review it for potential credit. We aim to keep the process fair and straightforward.

If You Choose Not to Opt In

  • You can still purchase items directly through your browser.

  • We will push an update that removes this feature from the app. If you don’t update, the feature will remain visible but will no longer function.

Common Questions asked so far:
  • Example Charge – $100 item bought = .90 cents charge. (Through app direct purchase only)
  • This is only for “commit to buy” items successfully purchased items through the in app oAuth token only. 
  • There’s no charge for purchases made through the browser checkout.
  • If you go to the browser page and use commit-to-buy, you will not be charged. 
 
We can provide a report of billed items quickly upon request.

  • If you have a high % of returns/cancellations:
  • – After being charged, we will ask for a report of canceled items for the billed period via screenshot (needs item number, title and price). We will then credit those items the next billing cycle for the canceled items that matched the usage report.
