Now that you’ve entered a keyword search and you’re viewing results, it’s time to ensure all available data is present and you format the most important data that might further qualify or disqualify an item for purchase.
The goals:
- Have all item information present so you don’t need to visit the eBay website item page
- Highlight important fields and words in results view with filter rules.
Each user has varying requirements based on the number of items, product type and their own internal purchasing guidelines, therefor each setup will be different.
We’ll go over the features that help you with this and some examples to help generate an idea of what might work best for you.
Item Specifics #
Item specifics will help you get a full picture of an item and can be viewed on the results record.
Example: When buying cell phones the item specifics “Network”, “Memory Capacity” & “Unlocked Status” might increase/decrease a products value, serve as an extra verification against vaguely described titles and descriptions or used to qualify or disqualify an item with your set of purchasing rules.
Add Item Specifics #
- Go to Grid > Item Specifics
- Select eBay site your purchasing from (Default US)
- Enter in category ID manually or press down arrow to select from the list.
Item specifics will appear in the “Available specifics” area. Scroll down to view all available fields
- Select all the item specifics you want to bring in.
- Click “Create Columns”
The selected item specific will then be displayed in the bottom “Items specific columns” window.
- Click close window and head to “Results” window.
- The item specifics will appear on the far left of the results grid.
- Move columns to best fit your needs.
You can further use these item specifics in filter rules if you wish.
Filter Rules #
Filter rules help you identify key purchasing requirements by applying color to specific cells, rows or removing columns based on simple or complex if – then statements.
Examples:
- If quantity is greater than 1, you might want to purchase everything and ensure you know this before going to buy
- If feedback score is negative you want to delete these results.
- If item has “Make offer” option, highlight the row or column to attempt to get an auto accepted offer at 90% of list price.
- If you want to highlight a specific seller (but not choose to remove) and decide to purchase based on any other criteria.
To access filters,
- click Home > Filters
- Or click the “Filters” panel.
- The pre-packaged filter rules are displayed.
- To disable, click the check box on far right
In our example, we could create 4 filter rules to tackle seller feedback
- Remove results if the feedback score is negative.
- Highlight the feedback cell red if feedback is 0
- Highlight the feedback cell yellow if feedback score 1-10
- Highlight feedback cell green if feedback is 10+
We will show one specific rule created.
To Create click the + icon
- Select “Action” – Format cells
- Format Column – Select “Feedback Score”
- Format Style – “BackColor” – Choose Color
Make if then statement to apply action on:
- Under “If condition is” panel on left side
- Click “+” icon to add statement
- Search or select data field to take action on. For our example, “Feedback Score”
- Add condition “is between”
- Enter value = 0 and 10
Then give the filter rule a name.
We will call it “Feedback 1 -10 “
Click “Ok”
Ensure the filter rule is enabled.
Create additional rules as necessary.
Confirm filter rules are working by checking records in results view.
Newly created filter rules, when enabled will be applied to currently found search results.
