How do I compare Found Time vs. Sold Time to analyze my speed?
Enable Found Time and Sold Time columns. If an item was found at 00:30 and sold at 01:00, you had 30 seconds to act. This helps you assess whether your delay was in discovery or decision-making.
Which payment method is fastest for checkout?
Using a credit card via eBay checkout is typically the fastest and offers the best fraud protection. PayPal and debit cards may be slightly slower and offer varying levels of protection.
Are debit cards slower or less secure than credit cards?
Yes, in some cases. Debit cards may have slower processing and weaker dispute resolution protections depending on the bank.
Does my choice of bank affect checkout speed?
Yes. Large, national banks and major credit card providers usually have more reliable and faster payment gateways than smaller or regional banks.
Should I test different payment methods for performance?
Absolutely. Just like keywords, test payment methods to find what works best for your setup and minimizes checkout friction.
Is my PC or internet slowing down my search speed?
Unlikely. If you have a modern PC and a stable connection, your speed bottlenecks are usually from keyword logic, eBay API behavior, or server propagation timing, not your hardware.

Go to Options > Sync Now to sync system time.
To back up your settings before testing changes, go to Help > Create Backup.
How do I check if my system is having technical issues?
Enable and review Log Files in View Panels > Log if you suspect technical problems. This can help pinpoint system-level delays or misbehavior.
Why am I not winning listings even after optimization?
Sometimes it’s simply due to competition or eBay’s API behavior. Even a perfectly optimized setup can’t guarantee every win, timing, chance, and listing refresh speed all play a role.
Can network issues impact my search speed?
Yes. Rarely, network routing or shared networks can slow down requests. International users may benefit from using a U.S.-based remote desktop with UbuyFirst installed to reduce latency.
Should I use fewer keywords or more keywords?
It’s better to have fewer, well-optimized keywords than many vague or redundant ones. Each keyword adds load, so clarity and precision matter more than volume.
What’s the best way to get help if I still have speed issues?
If you’re still experiencing issues, reach out via Live Chat or schedule a support session. Our team can help review your setup and fine-tune your performance.
How often should I review and update my keyword list?
It’s a good practice to review your keywords at least weekly or whenever you notice a drop in search quality. Trends, model names, and seller listings change frequently, so staying current is essential.
What are sub-searches and how do they help with speed?
Sub-searches (available in version 2.0.0.32+) let you break down broad keywords into more specific segments, like filtering by price brackets. This improves both search clarity and decision-making speed.
Can I schedule support to help optimize my keyword list or layout?
Absolutely. If you’re unsure how to optimize your setup, you can schedule a support session with our team, we’ll help you fine-tune everything from keyword structure to interface flow.
What is the best way to test if a keyword is performing well?
Monitor listings with Title Match = TRUE, check how often relevant results appear, and see if you’re getting items within your price range. If not, it may be time to revise or remove that keyword.
What should I do if I see good listings but I’m still not winning?
Check your review speed, payment method speed, and “Found vs. Sold” timestamps. You may be finding listings fast, but making decisions or checking out too slowly.
How do I improve title matching to boost search speed?
To improve speed, your keywords should match the listing title exactly.
Enable the Title Match column (Right-click results header → Column Band Chooser → Add “Title Match”) and revise keywords marked as FALSE.
For example, add “16e” to match listings titled “iPhone 16e.”
What’s the most important keyword optimization for faster results?
The #1 optimization is title match accuracy. Listings with false matches waste time and reduce your chances of winning deals.
How can I simplify my keyword list for better performance?
Combine similar variants into one keyword (e.g., “Datejust,” “Date Just,” “Submariner”), limit the number of separate keywords, and avoid over-fragmentation unless strategically needed.
Should I set a max price limit on keywords?
Yes. Setting realistic max price limits filters out irrelevant listings and reduces system load, making your search faster and more focused.
How can I improve my decision speed when reviewing listings?
Optimize your layout to make fast buy decisions without opening eBay. Enable checkout behavior under Options > Checkout Behavior so clicking a listing goes directly to checkout, not the listing page.
How do I compare Found Time vs. Sold Time to analyze my speed?

What OS Platforms are supported?
Currently, uBuyFirst desktop works on Windows OS only.
Linux and Mac are not supported.
A browser version of uBuyFirst works on any major browser.
Is uBuyFirst Free to Use?
Yes. uBuyFirst is free to use.
First use will be a trial for 30 days with all features and functionality. At the end of 30 days you can choose a subscription plan or continue to use the free version.
What the difference between free and subscription?
uBuyFirst was built for power buyers. Those needing to gain advantages of seconds to minutes on newly listed items. This could be for buyers who buy infrequently but are buying in a competitive category or for those who buy 10’s or 100’s of thousands of dollars a month.
The eBay development program allots a specific amount of calls for searching per day. Because these power buyers have more success with increased amount of calls, the consumption per user tends to be heavier on average per user compared to other free tools out there on the market.
A paid subscription plan is setup with the assumption that those needing an advantage are willing to pay the subscription fee for the immense benefit of these additional features and more frequent call volumes.
Our free version and lower subscription packages are still very viable buying options for those wanting to win great deals.
Will lots of searches slow my results?
This is a possibility.
uBuyFirst calls out (based on subscription) concurrent to the order you have setup your search terms. uBuyFirst can run hundreds of individual searches but try to keep the number as low as possible for the best results.
You can do this by combining or grouping keywords together and then using the additional features to help identify individual specs that differentiate product for the type of items you purchase.
Ex: A user wants to purchase iPhone 6 models for 4 different carriers. Instead of making four individual searches (ex: “iphone 6 verizon” or “iPhone 6 Sprint”) you could make one search for “iPhone 6” and use filter conditions to highlight the “carrier” item specific a user selected color for each different carrier.
If each model/carrier combo has a different price, you can include short hand in the “term” of the keyword to recall this information quickly such as “i6 – VRZ/$600 – S/$500 – ATT/$550” and put this column to the far left on the main search grid.
Above all, feel free to create as many search options that are available and monitor your success rate. If items are being missed by seconds then you can make some adjustments by combining these search terms.
Other buyers are winning items and of me by seconds or minutes
You can’t win them all.
Just because someone sees an item by seconds or minutes before you one time doesn’t mean that you’re not seeing many MORE than them by seconds or minutes.
eBay’s dataservers aren’t exactly an open book. Not to mention their spread out all over the country/world and it takes time for a newly listed BIN item to be replicated across all of these data listing servers. Each time you call, the request is resolved and directed at one of these servers “at random”.
Just because you see a handful of listings sold minutes before you found it doesn’t mean someone has a super system and is finding them always faster than you.
Our enterprise subscription package allows for increased calls as well as using proxies to gain better advantages and reduce this “randomness” in your favor.
Testing against all other major competitors, uBuyFirst is confident that we’re always staying ahead of the curve and doing everything we can to ensure the FREQUENCY that you see items first is the highest possible while complying with all eBay developer terms of service.
Is it safe to attach my eBay account to uBuyFirst?
Yes.
uBuyFirst does not store any eBay user account information on our side. The authentication is via eBay’s token authentication which is done through the web browser by logging into your eBay name from the official eBay site and confirming your account.
Also, this is only required if you wish to purchase items directly from the application via the placeoffer API for commit to buy items (items that do not require immediate payment). While this feature is sure to shave off valuable seconds by not having to leave the application and checkout via the browser, it’s not required.
I have a suggestion or feature request
Great! We listen to our customers and welcome any comments about ways that can improve your ability to win more items!
Visit the contact form on on the homepage or tell us through live char. We usually implement reasonable request and within a timely manner.
How do I get rid of unrelated items in search results?
This happens and is either a result of an improper search term setup or eBay’s best match algorithm thinking for you and giving unrelated searches.
Sellers can also often times include items in the improper catalog ID.
Start with simple search terms and then moved to advanced parmaters that uBuyFirst allows (such as “-” or in quotations or parenthesis). You can also use search filters and price min/max to reduce the number of these improper search results.
Remember, it’s usually best to create simplified keywords and then use the functions of uBuyFirst to eliminate outliers or highlighting cell/row/listing keywords or phrases to help you identify these improper results rather than create tons of rules that might exclude items that you do want to see.

How can I improve my search results findings?
There are many ways you can make improvements to the speed at which you’re able to find items.
See Speed Performance & Optimization Guide
While some of these are directly related to finding items faster, ensure that you’re properly setup to win the items that you do have a good opportunity to purchase when they’re found.
Why are no results showing up?
Check the following:
If all else fails, stop searching and disable all current keywords. Create a new simple keyword and start searching again. If results come up for this new search term, you may be able to identify if it’s the settings within uBuyFirst or something external.
If problems persist, please contact us for help.

For the watchlist feature. Can you confirm how we can follow the seller only, so that new items that are listed and have changed are seen?
You cannot directly follow/search a seller in the watchlist feature.
Two workarounds exist:
(1) Create a keyword search term for that specific seller.
(2) Filter your existing watchlist by seller using the column header right-click menu. However, this only shows items already on your watchlist from that seller, not all their new listings.
